Our Diabetes Awareness Conference held October 2nd here at Kikinahk was a huge success: Keynote presentation was by Dave Rodney, with the afternoon presentation by Don Burnstick. There were also presentations by each of the agencies that are providing health or recreation services for persons with or in danger of developing diabetes. There were 160 regular registrations, as well as students from Churchill High School (Mr. Well's class) who attended the conference.
We would like to thank Saskatchewan Health Minister McMorris for attending the conference and for bringing greetings on behalf of the Government, and for his words encouraging all partner agencies here in La Ronge to continue working together to provide Diabetes Prevention and treatment services for our residents.
Thank you also to Mayor Joe Hordyski for his welcome on behalf of the Town of La Ronge, and to Vice-Chair Mary Denacheze of the Health Region for her greetings and powerful introduction to this conference.
