National Aboriginal Day Pictures

Our National Aboriginal Day activities were a great success. The events at the Mel Hegland Uniplex here in La Ronge, began around 3:30 in the afternoon, with some activities outside including demonstrations of how to make bannock on a stick. By 5:00 the place was starting to fill up, with some entertainment on stage prior to the meal that was served at 6:00.

About 1000 people came and enjoyed a meal, the dancers and drummers, listened to the welcomes by Chief Tammy Cook Searson of the La Ronge Band, Clarence DeBruyne, the President of Kikinahk Friendship Centre, and elders Henry Roberts, and Mary and Moses Bird, whom introduced our guest performer, Mr. Don Burnstick.
